Through the Frame
Through the Frame is a continuing project that explores how perception is shaped by boundaries — both physical and implied. Using natural and found frames within the landscape, these images look beyond the obvious subject and toward the act of seeing itself.
Rather than presenting open views, the work introduces interruptions: gaps, apertures, silhouettes, and partial obstructions that guide the eye while limiting certainty. Trees, stone, shadow, and human presence become framing devices, creating layers that shift attention between foreground and distance. What lies beyond the frame is never fully revealed, encouraging pause and interpretation.
By framing nature through other elements, context is altered and scale becomes ambiguous. The landscape is no longer a place to observe, but something to look through — a moment suspended between presence and absence. In many cases, the frame itself becomes as important as the scene it contains.
This project is less about destination and more about threshold. Through the Frame reflects on how small changes in viewpoint can transform familiar environments, inviting the viewer to slow down and consider not just what is seen, but how it is seen.
